Why doesn't /lit/ talk about Ezra Pound more often? Is it because you actually need to be well-read and erudite to appreciate his poetry?

>I am homesick after mine own kind,
>Oh I know that there are folk about me, friendly faces,
>But I am homesick after mine own kind.

Hello /lit/. Where should I start with Pound? He's my favourite poet, and I feel somewhat guilty for not having read any of his work. What editions would you recommend?

Let's talk about In The Station of the Metro by Ezra Pound. If this takes off I'll do a series with another poem every couple of days.

You can hear me talk about the poem here:
https://vocaroo.com/i/s1sWpIf7kA9j

The poem is two lines long so here it is:

In The Station of the Metro
The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
Petals on a wet, black bough.

Lets talk about it. Tell me if you think I'm full of shit or not. Offer your own interpretations. Vent about how your girlfriend left you and how you are so so alone.

I hate myself and I want to die.
I hate myself and I want to die.
I hate myself and I want to die.
I hate myself and I want to die.
I hate myself and I want to die.

Do people even like Ezra Pound? His poetry is shit and he just drops a ton of obscure references to trick people into thinking he's a genius. He's basically T.S. Elliot minus the talent.

>I am always filled with a sort of angry wonder that any one professing to care for poetry can remain in ignorance of the tongue in which the "Commedia" is written. It shows a dullness, a stolidity, which is incomprehensible to any one who really knows the "Commedia."

Post some of your favorite Modernist quotes:

What thou lovest well remains,
the rest is dross
What thou lov’st well shall not be reft from thee
What thou lov’st well is thy true heritage
Whose world, or mine or theirs
or is it of none?
First came the seen, then thus the palpable
Elysium, though it were in the halls of hell,
What thou lovest well is thy true heritage
What thou lov’st well shall not be reft from thee
