Hey /lit/

I've been reading The Sailor Who Fell From Grace... and would like to see what your thoughts are on the book.

It seems to me that the sailor is a sort of tragic hero. If he was able to articulate all the deep thoughts he has about life on the sea, and present himself like how he would like to be seen, the gang of boys really would think of him as a hero. But, the boys are not able to know what the guy is really thinking deep down inside, so they consider him weak and sentimental. I think Mishima is illustrating the dangers of holding people to strict standards and the problems of being overzealous. Thoughts?
