I should stop coming here. I should stop coming to 4chan in general. I mean, I'm here forever but I guess I should take one of those breaks. It's a waste of time and just depresses me. I don't want to think about being a khv in his mid 20s or hear about the current state of women. I need to focus on improving myself. I know there are still some good women out there. I will find one eventually and we will get married and have a family.

Really, really bad fanfiction. You should read the "seventh" book just to convince you that the abrupt ending of Chapterhouse is fine, and trust in the Golden Path

self help books for dealing with being a midwit or schizo or a terribly idiosyncratic person--or all of them? is there even such a thing or will I have to write it?

"Greatness is a transitory experience. It is never consistent. It depends in part upon the myth-making imagination of humankind. The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in. He must reflect what is projected upon him. And he must have a strong sense of the sardonic. This is what uncouples him from belief in his own pretensions. The sardonic is all that permits him to move within himself. Without this quality, even occasional greatness will destroy a man" DUNE Frank Herbert
What did he mean by this /lit/?

Like above said it's a test about overcoming instinct.
How do you not enjoy the super villainous nature of the Harkonnen? Most of the characters act like they are actors playing to an audience. It all comes off to me as being a Shakespearean drama, or mythology.
The shields allow stuff moving under 10cm per second through. Also everyone doesn't have a full shield. I imagined the fights looking like sword and buckler/shield where the combatants are constantly trying to stab around the others defense. It also reinforces the feudal nature of the setting, and it's real fucking cool.
I imagine Dune constantly uses epithets to mythologize the characters, to better allow the average reader to identify the characters quickly, and to let the reader know how one character feels about the other. Like the Bene Gesserit constantly being referred to as "witches", or Gurney being called "the Valorous".

Not sure if you're a troll but they're referencing The Stranger by Camus. Most of his works reference existentialism and the absurdist philosophy put forth by Sarte among others. It's actually a decent book I'd recommend it.
