I need some advice from cultivated people so I figured I could come here and ask my question about the english language, pardon me if you don't like this topic. I'll delete it once I have a good answer.

I had a beef with some girl today (We're both german). We were talking with each other in english. At some point I told her to give me a synonym for "to predict" when she answered "saying something in advance".

In my opinion saying something in advance and predicting something are completely different and you would never tell the future in advance but foresee or predict it.

Who is right here?

TL;DR: Is "to predict something" a synonym for "saying something in advance".
