Seriously though it's like you read books while simultaneously watching TV or something, I don't understand how you come up with the shit you do.

You would rather suffer than be submissive.

Does this describe you?
Are you the stubborn type?

I wonder what inadequacies women are frustrated about the men of today.

writing a small fantasy novel

but i'm having some trouble with the introduction of a specific character. he's supposed to join the "party" as it were, and i'm trying to find a good vehicle for him to meet the rest of the group. his introduction is told from his perspective up until he meets the rest of the cast.

the character himself is small. very small. as well as quite young. very inquisitive and talkative to the point of annoying. His size grants him great dexterity to slip around unseen. of course this is trivializing his character but it's enough to go on i hope.

my only two thoughts so far were him being bullied in the street with the main cast taking notice, or him pickpocketing something from them and then being chased down. both of these are painfully cliche'

any alternatives?
perhaps an example from a similar work?

i made a sort of infodump for the setting and other characters. warning, it's somewhat tl;dr

anyone have some tips on techniques or mechanisms to quickly flesh out characters within a story?

i'm working with a large cast of 6, and i'm doing my absolute best to give them each s proper introduction, and later a proper character analysis during a crisis/bad thing. but fuck is it hard. i end up focusing a lot on one guy and giving less than a paragraph to another. I'm also finding it tough to think up good scenarios that would most effectively break them down, not to MENTION good ways to illicit empathy or compassion for the character from the reader

what do?

hey /lit/ how do you feel about fanfiction?
and before you rage, i'm talking about very well thought out, well written fanfiction

so you read it period?
do you have a moral resistance to it?
would you be willing to read one if it was by a good, established author?
is the association with retards like the sonic fanbase enough to make you gag at the thought of it?

not trolling, i'm honestly curious

Why is English taught beyond Middle school? In America, all they do is read books and have spelling tests in high school.

Hey /lit/, I want to fuck with my English teacher. What are some things that I can do to fuck with her? I'm mainly thinking of grammatical errors that I can justify because I don't want to damage my grade to badly.
