I think this mistake is nearly as grave as saying the system will never collapse. You're putting all your trust in a house of cards. Maybe you are trying to cope so you won't have to take action in this life? Elaborate if you think I'm mistaken.

Seems to me like the opposition is extemely fierce and most people seem to have forgotten these leaders are no better than tribal warlords wanting to flay their enemies alive. I'd say the underlying order is all parties knowing full-out war will lead to a collapse: no grid=no power. Source on this is Jacques Ellul 's 'The Technological Society', BUT Stanley Kubrik's 'Dr. Strangelove', though being quite comical, perfectly illustrates how a random powertrip could fuck all.
