I'm surprised by Theodore Sturgeon. He is not the oddball dinosaur I was expecting (Vonnegut's Kilgore Trout.) Instead, he is a weaver of melodramas about the human condition, that are compelling, visceral, and edifying.

It reads how current YA authors should write.
