He's my favourite author (don't lynch) I really love his over descriptive nature and tendency to do adjective stacking, I like his traditionalists values and his red pilledness nature that he slips into his storys (shadow over insmouth) also founded cosmicsism

I feel like there is no place for poetry in our world of today. Why should anyone put so much efford in creating "art", that noone appreciates or even cares about?
Even reading poetry can feel like too hard work to be considered amusement at times.

So what do you think? Is poetry slowly becoming such niche, that it will be taught just as an exercise for further writing? Or worse yet, song writing.

Oh here's to my sweet Satan.
The one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Satan.
He'll give those with him 666.
There was a little tool shed where he made us suffer, sad Satan.

Let's start with one of my favorites by H. P. Lovecraft

When, long ago, the gods created Earth
In Jove's fair image Man was shaped at birth.
The beasts for lesser parts were next designed;
Yet were they too remote from humankind.
To fill the gap, and join the rest to Man,
Th'Olympian host conceiv'd a clever plan.
A beast they wrought, in semi-human figure,
Filled it with vice, and called the thing a Nigger.

Hey /lit,
I am a great fan of Lovecraft.
What's your opinion on him, anon?
I like him because his horror is supernatural and not natural.
So far I have read:
Dunwich Horror
Mountains of Madness
Lurker at the Doorstep
Rats in the Walls
innsmouth (forgot title)
Whisperer in the Dark
(I've read more but im to lazy to list them all)

>TL;DR Lovecraft, do you like him or not

This Christmas I got the Necronomicon (The collection of Lovecraft's works, not those ones that pretend to be the actual book). I'll admit, I haven't really read anything for a very long time, but I can't get enough of these stories. With this I also got a 20$ gift card for the bookstore. Can /lit/ recommend me some books that I would also enjoy if I really liked Lovecraft?

This could also be a Lovecraft thread, if you want.

I'm interested in reading H. P. Lovecraft's works but I'm not sure where to start.

Are there any particular series or starting points or does it not really matter that much.
