The worst realization one can have is that nothing ever happens. But what about the French, the Russian reveolution, what about WW1, WW2? These things are simply natural offshoots of hundreds of years of development. They are not a surprise, but entirely predictable. The popular portrayal of revolutionaires as idealistic people fighting for a cause that seems unlikely is totally ridiculous, in reality to be a revolutionary you merely need to detect the sign of the times and be an opportunistic pragmatist. The true idealists are always mercilessly crushed by the boot of history. Nothing ever happens, the entire life is merely just adapting to where history is going and what society wants, or expulsion to the fringe in the opposite case.
