Someone rec me sci-fi books with a super soldier MC.

Bonus if it's mil sci-fi with enlistment, training and the MC progressing from being an average joe into a killing machine.

Has anyone read this?
I've read 3 books so far and liked them. Sci-fi version of heroic fantasy with a heavy dose of war and politics.
My question to those who have read all the books is if I can skip book 4. It follows a different character I'm not interested in and reviews say it has an alternate ending to the one in book 3. Was wondering if I can skip it and go directly to book 5.
