Because /lit/ has seen an influx of users from places such as r*ddit where the left wing lenience is the norm in its subcommunities. While there is nothing wrong with being a leftist and/or believing in leftism, it is important to note that this is the same group of people that sadly has complete idiots such as tankies on their side. There will always be a subset of people that refuse to have their beliefs challenged and questioned. Be it political beliefs, religious, social, economical, etc.
Sowell argues against most of the talking points that leftists use and, unlike 90% of rightwingers, he does so in an intelligent manner and providing proof that backs up his claims, something that many close-minded people just cannot stand and therefore everything he says must be wrong in one way or another not because he err the facts, but because the leftist does not want to have his or her ideals challenged in an intelligent manner rather than the usual flamewar that the leftist is used to and prepared for.
