>Wanted to appreciate the mind of Terence McKenna here. I don’t think it matters so much what one thinks about his particular ideas but to me Terence McKenna seemed like a person whose life was genuinely consumed by an insatiable sense of curiosity. He delved into such a vast range of human knowledge both philosophical and empirical and you can hear it in the way he spoke. He had a child-like sense of wonder and utter intellectual curiosity his whole life it seems and to me he’s an ideal human type and an inspiration. His truth was that there’s always more, reality is always weirder than we can suppose, and when you adopt a radically open and honest perspective the world is filled with so much incredible novelty and diversity that one cannot help but be drawn into the swirling abyss of gazing upon the Beautiful. To me Terence McKenna truly follows in the lineage of thinkers like Pierre Teilhard de Chardin; always looking toward the future, never allowing the tradition to halt at any point. The dance is the truth, not the “final rest”.
