What are some of the most compelling pieces you've seen written in defence of free will?

I'm looking for an argument against
>humans are slaves unto their biology and environment
Which feels incomplete and misguided, almost like an atheist form of Calvinism.

Valuing them as human beings? Why would you want to do that?

A beautiful painting of a beautiful woman may make you value them as something special though. Maybe not "as human beings," but something else, maybe something more. Something worth protecting.

I shuddered every muscle and tendon
When Death showed its
Ancient and random smile
Of funeral and rocky teeth

I shivered and prayed when
Through the throat, Death spat
A cold and bright plague, black as greed,
Whilst mocking
Of our impotence;

I drummed the jaws uninterruptedly
While the only possible heat
Came from:
The aromatic female flesh;
A miserable piece
of cloth

Stretched out on a sparse lawn
Without luggage (abandoned)
With tiny chance of survival
Islanded
With fluid socks and underwear
Feeling the bony fingers from the cold
Massaging my body
On the ridge
A rite to folly:
To the Sky we challenged
And by the Sky
We were proven

It was supposed to be a discussion of beauty. We're not allowed to do that now?

and of course

"Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta.
She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita.

Did she have a precursor? She did, indeed she did. In point of fact, there might have been no Lolita at all had I not loved, one summer, a certain initial girl-child. In a princedom by the sea. Oh when? About as many years before Lolita was born as my age was that summer. You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, exhibit number one is what the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied. Look at this tangle of thorns"

Lol exactly. The revolt against such thought and action was also likely not started by females but rather by the cuckolded losers whose Ressentiment was boiling up.

But for example in the Golden Age of Athens sure there was "monogamy", but the wife was used as a house slave and baby factory, marriage was not about love at all.
The Greeks were free to then go fuck what ever they wished to.
