Because the schooling system only needs people to learn to do the essentials for their work.
Why risk having kids reading "problematic" books when they can simply consume and learn the current status quo of ideas and morals by staying hooked on social media and watching Netflix series? Its overall better than trying to use institutions to promote and exclude books that people ought to read and support the current trends and segmentations, has it happens in europe.
Its the perfect system.

Geneva anon here, all the anglicisms in spoken french have also increased as of late, it's a really sad process to witness. On a side note I never understood how come in swiss german danke schön becomes merci vidmal, would be interested in hearing from someone from the area about how commonly it's actually used

I also have plenty of friends that read it and recommended it to me. Also read a few chapters out of their books when were together.
And no, dont waste your cash on that shit, its just some half baked stoicism mixed with buddhism with some shit ass claims mixed with "in the end research shows that people who do X and/or behave like Y are less happy in the long run"
The book is most of the time always like that, providing basic, lame ass "advice" and supporting it in a shallow manner.

Well shit OP, I feel bad for you. Have you atleasy meet any decent girl which read "decent" books?
By "decent" i simply mean everything expect the run of the mill shit girly novels, TV series books and cringy tier politics teachings for teens.

I feel like as time moves on newer generations create relationships less and less when they reach adulthood. The amount of single people entering the job market without ever being in a relationship is stagering high.
I came very surprised when i checked opun my highschool friends when they finished their STEM degrees and all of them (including their circles of friends) were kv by the time they finished the master's degree. And they still are now.
