Man derives pleasure in killing for the same reason he derives pleasure in sex: It is a sucessful adaptation. To kill meant food and protection from enemies and predators. Survival. The man who enjoyed it lived. The man who did not starved, or was himself eaten.

So hunting animals for sport carries the same moral impact as womanizing. Yes, it is pleasurable. Yes, it is a natural instinct for men to desire. But man has reached a state of development in which he can see the negative results of too much pleasure-killing just as plainly as he can see the results of too much whoring. The advanced male has learned to spread both his seed and his death with discretion.

Picture only vaugely related.
