I keep feeling that this clash between reality and fiction is only appealing to the current generation because of the general over exposure to the idea of registering your life for everyone to see, but it's not that different from most classic works when it comes to execution. I'm sure that if we were alive at the time and close friends with, say, Blake we would get a pretty similar experience of fiction meeting reality and back.

Postmodernism is a complex response to the many facets of modernism, it's almost impposible to simplify because someone else will come with different interests or priorities and their focus will make it sound quite different while just caring more for other aspects.

As general as I can make it, it's about realizing that the meta stories are bullshit (the idea that communism, free market, catholicism, etc will eventually lead to a perfect world), instead most authors present pre-modern texts and non european societies as examples of how history (and all the human constructions that appeared through it from society or text to gender roles or markets) is a constantly changing construction than can be dissected and analyze with a kind of depth that is inherently resulting of the modernist focus on registers and cross examination.

Did I do good? Did I fuck it? I'm sure someone else will correct me.

It's said that Poe invented it, but there are older works that could be considered part of the genre if we drop the urban/police angle (which is a pretty big part for some people)

I think /lit/ has a bit different definition of the pleb/pat dichotomy than the rest of 4chan. It tends to be used more in terms of how demanding the work is. Capote is pleb while Joyce is patrician, for example. In those terms when you get used to more complex and demanding though you just lose the joy from your run of the mill superficial and direct stuff. The more authors you read the higher the bar is set, as long as you are consciously reading and understanding them.
Of course, it's more or less tied to the fields you are interested in. If you don't really care about, say, poetry you won't progress and find both subtler and stronger works.

I still like Bob's Burgers, though, I have no hate against you.

Are you applying relativism to defined movements?

I don't know what I said defending bad taste. I wouldn't like to pretend taste is universal because this isn't 1875 and the enlightenment came and went already.
What things bothered you? Maybe we agree and I just expressed myself wrongly or you connected my post to some other.

They are written in genesis like that because the same structure appears in lots of human narrations, analyzing the psyche through narrations is just reverse engineering. The idea is that archetypes are the BIOS and we notice them through the output. We use them to understand the mind through the production, they're not a production means.
