before starting to read infinite jest my favorite authors were joyce and hemingway. 20 pages into infinite jest i felt like it was eye-rollingly pretentious and i thought "no wonder it gets memed on so much." but i can't put it down. i went from reading other books maybe an hour a day to dedicating 3 or 4 hours a day to reading infinite jest. i'm 250 pages in and i'm really loving it. it's hilarious and one passage made me tear up. it's the kind of book that i wish i could've written because it's so genius. why does it get memed on so hard here? jealousy? a majority of the characters are antihero types that fit so well with who i'd imagine browses /lit/, myself included. without spoilers please, what are your thoughts on infinite jest? genuinely curious

Im not trying to say any of the classic mainstays are trashbags, don't worry. What I am saying is that epics are an underexposed form. And that youre shit and I hate you
