I just had an absolute schizo leave a barrage of comments on a fanfic I wrote a year ago. He went through every chapter in the story and left a negative comment on most of them. Then he went to the other site where the story is hosted and left a negative comment THERE as well. It's bizarre, really. I must have legitimately pissed this guy off for some reason for him to sperg out the way he did. He even got into a fight with someone else who had commented more positively on my story. This guy went in for an all-out assault on a fanfic that I wrote for fun over three days.

>reading for "self-improvement"

Is there anything more ugly? Is there anything more utterly bugman-tier? As though by reading philosophy or poetry you're somehow laying a brick in the wall of your own self. That's not how literature works. You should read to experience truth, goodness, and beauty. You should read because you enjoy it. You should read because it's pleasing to you at a fundamental level.

What the fuck is with this video-game-tier understanding of reading? As if, by reading enough books, you'll "level up" somehow. It's the most utterly wrongheaded approach to reading I've ever seen. Who is responsible for this bullshit?

Maybe that's what it is.

It absolutely feels like everyone currently in power in Washington is trying hard to pretend that things are "back to normal" after Trump, and they're doing a terrible job at actually convincing anyone of it. Things don't feel normal at all.

>This board has become a botnet as well as the rest of 4chan.

I literally never see bots on this website. And on the rare occasion one shows up they stick out like a sore thumb because their posts are clearly artificial. Is the problem just that you don't like seeing people post opinions you disagree with?

Okay, though, as much as we all agree Harry Potter was shit, we can't deny: it sold a fuckton. An entire generation made reading the books, and watching the movies they were based on, a defining feature of their lives. Why? If they're so shit, what drew people in anyway?

What is the dumbest book you've ever read, /lit/? A book so stupid that you actually said, "That's retarded" as you were reading it?

Did she actually read to the end of the story, where the twist happens?

Thomism is basically a reconciliation between Aristotelian philosophy and Augustinian theology, a large part of which has Neoplatonistic characteristics. The Enlightenment (and especially the post-Enlightenment) philosophies reject basically all of these philosolhies.
