Europoor from Italy here: our books are just indestructible, the quality of the paper is better, the covers look better, and unless you throw them into a pot of boiling water full of pasta or a pizza oven they'll keep being beautiful for years.

Saluti from my patrician attic in Rome, where we don't need to have OCD to keep paperbacks in good conditions, plebei del cazzo

Homosexuality is seen by Neumann as a result of an identification with the archetypal feminine. He writes that, "even today we almost always find, in cases of male homosexuality, a matriarchal psychology where the Great Mother is unconsciously in the ascendant." He believes that homosexuality represents a lack of psychological development and can be considered immature.

What did Neumann mean by this?

>Learning French
>"I miss you" is "Tu me manques" in French.
>me is the subject, so it should translate as "You are being missed by me", which is not the same as "I miss you".

Why the fuck is it like this in French when in almost all other phrases the subject goes after the pronoun, for example "Je vous aime"?

What's a good word for a person that comes off as a genial, kind, good person but is completely inauthentic and disgusting to the core? Not just wearing a mask or a con artist, I need a good word for it.

I was trying to think of one because I thought of the Pope and his penchant for talking about corpophilia, but I want to use it for some other things. Thanks bros.

Come on guys. You know it. Sartre, Camus, Deleuze, Derrida, Foucault... These are fucking idiots. The only things they say that are even slightly relevant are ripoff from (misinterpreted) German philosophers).

Only literature students read this stuff and take it seriously - also because most of the times it supports the shallow relavitistic and/or nihilistic views they hope will help them picking up girls.

No one take French philosophy after Descartes even remotely seriously in philosophy departments. If they do, your university is shit. Stop reading this stuff, 1968 has long gone. Engage with good philosophy like Plato and Kant: don't be a literature student, who reads this stuff on manuals or has read the Symposium for that one course on the Renaissance.

Ascend.

There is literally ZERO point to reading books at all unless doing so will either make you money or get you women. How can you justify reading if you are unable to obtain either from doing so?

If you're reading to gain knowledge - why? If you aren't getting rich, don't even bother. Who are you trying to impress with all your knowledge and that impressive bookshelf? Is it women? If it isn't, then buy a Kindle.

No one reads purely for entertainment. If you didn't have either of these thoughts in the back of your head you would choose a far less tedious hobby to pursue.
