>Lucky, I've never found anything terribly expensive.

That was just one of my finds -- I found one of these, worth about $50, and a book on the Eichmann capture worth $35. The truth is that most are absolutely worthless. I grabbed a Civil War tome the other day thinking it might be worth a few pennies, and it's about $2-3.

I do it, though, because I enjoy the hunt & enjoy reading about history. The value of the books themselves is just secondary.

I don't know about best, but I've grabbed a few that are scarcer. I grabbed Shirer's Sinking of the Bismarck about a week or so ago. I also found a FRESH copy of Unintended Consequences and bought it for $1.49, not realizing they're worth $90+ these days.

Also, got a first edition Sinking of the Bismarck that's in pretty good condition. Seemingly worth about $50!

Name one (1) thing wrong with this.

Is this where the lads are meeting up? Speaking of collections, I buffed up with some Stephen Ambrose today -- D-Day and Band of Brothers, the first an original hardcover, and the latter is sadly a TV-show-cover paperback.

I also found a first edition Sinking of the Bismarck by Shirer, and after my recent pass of Rise and Fall, I figured I'd give this a whirl.
