This is the foundation with which you create the space to add flourishes. Artfulness here can and ought to make (or rather, find) interesting things that otherwise wouldn't be worth taking note of (but are necessary here in the flow of the events you're unfolding). "I'd listen to [Actor] read the phone book!" That sort of thing.

That's the quality of the creative imagination/ideas, not the technical execution of the prose. It will come of itself if it has merit. Draw them out, the Muse wills it.
