Little further in the book now, and the author has figured out how to contrive a situation where the 12 year old girl has to sleep skin to skin to the main character. Of course they find an ice planet, and he almost freezes. So of course she has to warm him with her body. It's completely logical and not pedophilic at all.

Incidentally, at the beginning of the book, I kind of got the idea that the main character was attracted to the android. I figured it was the beginning of a love story between man and machine. But when they introduced the girl, I kind of ignored all that. But maybe I wasn't completely wrong to think that after all. I don't know. The MC's relationship with the android might just be friendly. Or perhaps more than friendly. Really hard to tell.

Oh boy. Oooooh boy. I just started Endymion. And everything was going well. Until it was said that this 27 yo old man is going to fuck some 11 year old in the future. And she knows it, and hinted as much. This suddenly got into creepy pedo vibes. Fully with an analogy to a man having fallen in love with his niece. And the book drawing parallels to the main character and the girl being the uncle and niece figures fated to fall in love.

Just what the fuck is going on in Dan Simmon's mind when he wrote this? And Why did he foreshadow events so far? Now I have to consider this weird sexual tension between a grown man an a child. And he's trying to write this little girl as being "different" than other girls. More intelligent, and more mature than her years. Essentially trying to make this relationship ok because she's precocious.(I fucking hate that word. Precocious. Yuck)
