Mishima's Golden Pavilion has been rereleased in Czechia recently. It used to be collector's book, selling anywhere from around 100 dollars to 300 dollars. You can buy the new release for 15 dollars, yet people still try to sell it (the new release) for 50 dollars.
What would Mishima think of this situation?

What Mishima books focus on beauty? I've already read Temple of The Golden Pavilion and Sun of Steel.

I've never read Mishima before and want to know where to start. I'm mostly interested in his critiques of modernity and his admiration of imperial Japan. I'm not interested in his sexual neuroses. So which of his books should I read?

The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea

It has the added quality of trying to retain a warrior's mentality in modernity. I'm not a warrior, but I could certainly empathize with his take and admired his rejection of meaningless passivity as being very brave.

I recently watched Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, and was entranced by it. I honestly want to get into the works of Yukio Mishima to better understand him and also to read some great books. Any suggestions for where to start? I've rented Confessions of a Mask from my library which should arrive tomorrow, is that a good one to begin with?

Lastly, would anyone be able to explain what made him so special? Not doubting that he is. I understand that he was wildly popular in Japan during his lifetime before his political shift and all. Like what about his writing drew people in, or even drew you guys into his work.

Any suggestions and explanation of why his work is loved is appreciated.

I recently got into literature and was wondering what could help me fully appreciate it. I'm really interested in Mishima as a person and enjoyed The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea, but I feel like some of it might be going over my head. Just picked up Confessions of a Mask, any tips for getting more out of it?

I was reading mishima's wikipedia entry and in it states he used to use "decadent metaphors"
does anyone know what this means exactly and some examples?
