I read books on my phone all the time. I get library ebooks, download pirate shit from z-lib, and buy epubs. I have thousands of physical books and room to store them. I don't feel like I need an ereader. The phone works well enough for me when I want convenience, like when I'm traveling.

/lit only infrequently discusses anything. Compound sentences are rare and discouraged. Posts with actually paragraphs are ignored. Try writing a complete thought about a book and, unless that thought is deeply racist or misogynist, the entire post will be ignored.

It's OK to be sad sometimes. Everyone is sad sometimes.

Serious suggestion: read Cliff's Notes (or the Wikipedia page) before you read the novel. You'll know what to look for. Also, go back and read the important scenes a second time after you finished the whole thing. You can get to a new level each time you read a book, and you'll get better at thinking about these things.

A few suggestions:
• Read books on writing. Preferably written this century. Don't pick up some bullshit from 1938 and jerk off over it because it was written by a white dude.
• Practice writing articles in your own voice.
• Submit your work when you're done. Even if it's never accepted this will help.
• Meet people and form a social circle of other journalists and writers. It sounds like you're already doing this.
• Stay woke. Corporations exploit our fears for profit.
