Thoughts? I'm on page 130~ and it's been fairly decent so far. Yossarian and Major Major are my favorite.

Is catch-22 /lit/ approved?

It's one of my favorite books.

In b4 highschool plebeian tier lit.

I just finished Catch 22 and I already feel lonely without Yossarian's antics. This novel somehow interested me in literature.


It was quite possibly the funniest book that I've ever read. I fell in love with just about every character, especially Orr, Nately, Colonel Catchcart, Colonel Black, Major Major, the Chief, and Nately's Whore.

What other books would you regard as Heller-esque literature?

Hey /lit/, I'm a first timer on this board.

I've never been an avid reader, but recently decided to read Catch-22. It was awesome, but difficult to understand without aid. What are some other acclaimed novels at the same tier as Catch-22, but easier to "get"?

I have found myself chuckling over it a few times, and it's different from what I've been reading up until now.

Why do people think this is a good book?

I have to read Catch-22 for Literature, and I don't understand it. Supposedly, it's really funny when you understand all the metaphors and allegories. Can someone from /lit/ help a newfag?

I've been suggested two novels by a friend of mine to read next:

Catch 22 by Joseph Heller or

Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

He considers them both "classics worth reading" but I'm not really sure which one I'd want to start with.
