> never really Cared about all the Evangelion praise and dodged it for years despite seeing it being cult worshipped on the internet
> Had only a vague notion pf the plot consisting of giant fighting robots piloted by teenagers
> Become friends with a boy who loves Evangelion
> Asked him to better explain the plot to me
> He talks about the second impact, the coming of the sons of Adam, the 17 angels, the seed of Lilith, the merging of Lilith and Adam, the third impact, the human instrumentality project
> Be fascinated by these mythological thriller aspects of the plot and immediately hop on to binge watch it
> The anime is actually about teenage coming of age cheap melodrama filled with sexual undertones and spiced with mecha action and sci-fi gibberish, desperately trying to appeal to a painfully obvious demographics of socially outcast, sexually frustrated male teens, which contemplate 90% of the weeaboo autistic anime watching fan base
> The aspects that originally caught my attention (adam, Lilith, the origin of the angels, the second and third impact) are scarcely present and make up for about 10% of the script.
> I expected a new age sci-fi cosmogony epic and got apocalypse: teenage mental health breakdown edition
I felt cheated.
