The Simon and Schuster Handbook for Writers is a very good reference. You do not need the latest edition at a hundred dollars. Just get an old edition in mint condition for ten dollars.

Burger schools suck ass for teaching grammar. The Simon and Schuster Handbook helped me a lot, despite the fact that it is published by Jews. Burger schools tend to only teach rudimentary grammar and then expect you to osmotically get the rest through literature. I found the formal structure of the Handbook to work much better than using a patchwork quilt of literature.

I am new to the thread. I found pic related to be helpful. I got it used for under $10. I learned a few tricks to streamline my flow. You have some similar problems as I did. Your ideas are fine. The whole thing is clunky.

Not him, but I agree that much of your work was written too casually. Too many writers have taken this path. I found pic related to be a good value when found second-hand.

Unironically, get a used copy of an old edition of pic related. There are a lot of sentence structures that are grammatically correct if punctuated properly that, at first blush, appear as if they could never be saved.
