>Christ is the Rock, and by Christ's own mouth is Peter called Rock also.
The name Peter means stone, as mentioned when Christ gave that name to Simon Peter in John chapter 1. Matthew 16:18 is not the place where Simon Peter was first given that name, which seems to be another misconception you've raised. See John 1:42.

>Christ clearly, then, identifies Himself with His church, and Peter with Himself
Right, and in Matthew 18:18 the apostles are all given the rightful authority to exercise church discipline, with Peter included among them. See also:

"If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed."
(1 Peter 2:3-8)

>Therefore, all who are with Peter are with Christ,
Right, but a false prophet who claims to be Peter or to have succeeded Peter is still nevertheless a false prophet. Biblical ecclesiology, as mentioned before, is congregational, and sacerdotalism was invented by false prophets much later. Peter even warned us about them.

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not."
(2 Peter 2:1-3)

That's referring to people like the leaders of various brands of Catholicism. Paul said something similar, as well.

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."
(1 Timothy 4:1-3)

See also Acts 20:28-32 where Paul warned about wolves coming in sheep's clothing to draw away disciples after manmade traditions, while Paul commends us to the word of God, which is able to give us an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
- Matthew 19:4-6

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32 Remember Lot's wife.
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
- Luke 17:26-34

>I don’t understand how this meme came to be that Ecclesiastes is some negative pessimistic work.
It has a lot of statements pointing out the pointlessness and vanity (lightness) of many things in the world, but this only serves to focus and accentuate the true value and essentiality of the world to come, and it shows how all things are "incomplete" in a fundamental sense without God's judgement in this world and the reconciliation of all things to God once again at the final day. The book ends on this note:

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." (Eccl. 12:13-14)

So you see that without God, this picture is incomplete. It is a sad, incomplete picture. It accentuates the role that God plays in resolving all of this and how needed and irreplaceable He really is. That's what I get out of these observations about life and its vanity. Basically, you need to come to the conclusion given by the Preacher at the end of the book.

>Chapter 12 is about the suffering of eventual aging but on the whole the book is life affirming
I think there is some more to it. There are prophetic features to Eccl. 12, and closely mirror what Christ also says about the last days.

For instance when Eccl. 12:2 says, "While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened," this can be seen as a reference to the sign in the heavens of the sun being darkened and the moon not showing her light. (Joel 2:30-31, Isaiah 34:4-5, comp. Acts 2:16-21, Matthew 24:29-33, Rev. 6:12-14, Job 14:12-14)

The grinders ceasing in Eccl. 12:3 is very similar to Christ's description in Matthew 24:40-41.

The daughters of music being brought low in Eccl. 12:4 is similar to the judgment against Babylon in Revelation 18:22.

Them being afraid of that which is high is another reference to the day of the Lord. See for instance the description given of it in Zephaniah 1:

"The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath;"

Finally, "the spirit shall return unto God who gave it" in Eccl. 12:7 is reminiscent of the end of our world. Because here the saying "dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return" comes to its full completion.

>Joshua 3:11
1611: Behold, the Arke of the Couenant, euen the Lord of all the earth, passeth over before you, into Jordan.
1900: Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan.
So in this verse "even" is mistakenly placed. The first edition put out by Cambridge in 1629 corrected it to say "covenant of." This also matches what the Geneva 1599 Bible said. Clearly not intended by the KJV translators. This is one of many typos in Robert Barker's editions that was fixed later.

>2 Kings 11:10
1611: And to the captaines ouer hundreds, did the priest giue king Dauids speares and shields, that were in the Temple.
1900: And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD.
Again, I have it recorded this was fixed in the 1638 edition by Cambridge, probably bringing it in line with the original master copy of the translation as this also matches what the Geneva Bible says here (although they said "house of the Lord" rather than "temple of the Lord").

>Jeremiah 31:14
1611: And I will satiate the soule of the priests with fatnesse, and my people shall be satisfied with goodnesse, saith the LORD.
1900: And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.
Robert Barker forgot to include the word "my" in the printing plates. Corrected in the 1629 Cambridge edition again, and this matches the 1599 Geneva Bible again (not to mention the Hebrew script in this place).

>Jeremiah 51:30
1611: The mightie men of Babylon haue forborne to fight: they haue remained in their holdes: their might hath failed, they became as women: they haue burnt their dwelling places: her barres are broken.
1900: The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.
Typo with the word "their" instead of "her." Subsequently corrected in 1629 Cambridge edition, also matches the Geneva Bible of 1599 in saying "her" as well.

>Ezekiel 6:8
1611: Yet will I leaue a remnant, that he may haue some, that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shalbe scattered through the countreys.
1900: Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries.
Corrected as early as the 1613 edition by Robert Barker. It is supposed to read "that ye may have" rather than "that he may have." Even Robert Barker realized this was a typo.

>and he still wants her back
No, not really. There is a small remnant of those who have not bowed the knee to Baal (like God mentions to Elijah) but, by and large they are cut off from eternal life for their crimes, disobedience to the truth and wickedness. See what it says in Acts:

"But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people."
- Acts 3:18-23

And again, like it says in the 94th Psalm:
"Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off."
- Psalm 94:19-23

And in Zechariah 14:21,
"And in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts."

All of this is speaking of unbelieving Israel, which were probably the vast majority living in the land of Israel of most time periods up till today, and of course those who call themselves "Jews" today have no part or inheritance in God's promise. See what Paul said in Galatians 3:
"Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." (Gal. 3:16)
