Hey, /lit/,
How did you get into books? Was there someone who inspired you to start reading for fun, or did you just pick it up yourself?

I'll go first: My parents read to me a lot when I was little. I was kind of raised on Sir Walter Scott and T.H. White and Jules Verne. Then I stopped reading actively until High School, when I had my first decent English teacher, and then I quit again when I got access to internet (and thus pirated vidya), and started again this year, mostly because of /lit/.

As much as I love my Nook, I think this argument is silly. Whether it's presented on paper, screen, slate or orally it's the content that matters. Fuck the medium.

As for that book smell I can always pick up an old paperback for a dime at the flea market, rip out a few pages and make an air freshener for my e-reader case.
