After landing a job in IT, you can actually watch my signatures degrade with time as I stopped using a pencil all together.
I prided myself on my beautiful flowing cursive just five years ago. I'd suggest keeping a diary or dream journal and dedicating yourself to making daily or bi-daily entries. Try to fill up a page per entry, even if you just have to let whatever comes to your mind flow down onto the paper.
I've learned from personal experience that if you stop writing by hand all together, it won't take long for you to lose your grip on handwriting. The opposite probably applies.
