Just saw the flick. How relevant is the word “jihad” in the book? I’ve seen people noticing the lack of some of the Arabic/Islamic terminology used in the book.

Meaning I see a bunch of decisions that are surely problematic to the Twitter Tranny Crew. Like the MC being the Chosen One because he will be able to read the minds of men and women, while the other magic nuns can only read the minds of women and that's mostly useless, lol.

Tolkien and GoT are my fan base reference points. The Tolkien fans love his adherence to traditional Western mythology, etc. They've resisted the SJW push to call orcs Negroes, to flip out over lack of female characters, to shriek over the racial implications of Easterlings and Harad, etc. Jackson's LoTR was faithful, Amazon's Rings of Power is not and has been a big failure.

So do Dune fans follow the Tolkien pattern or have they been captured by far left politics, like the average Harry Potter fan?

What are some other good books where the protagonist is a messianic figure that commands armies?

>«The Dune books are, as entertainment, inoffensive. But they’re not literature; they’re middle-brow pot-boilers.
>«The writing was dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I began marking on the back of an envelope every time the term "presently" was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous.»

What did Harold Blum have against Dune?

Dune. Reread it while on a low dose of LSD and the vividness was incredible.

wtf i want to live in a desert with a shady survivalist tribe now. I finished the first book about a month ago, really enjoyed it. I heard i should just read Franks Herbert's works and forget about his son's. Is that still the popular consensus?

It's probably a good bet you have not been exposed to much sci-fi in any of your forced reading. Check out Frank Herbert. Or Philip K Dick, or Ray Bradbury. Start with whatever grabs your attention.

Man, I'm sick of seeing everyone saying "DUNE NEEDS A MINISERIES" or "HBO SHOULD ADAPT DUNE". I've been reading Dune books for two thirds of my life and the series is just not that fucking good. Nothing in the original books would really translate outside of a novel written in the 1960s. What draws people to these awful fucking books

That in itself was a unique creative endeavour, incredibly well thought out, and organically woven into the story.

I love this fantastic book and think it relates to our current situation very well.
