Hey /lit/, right now I've gotten into The Great Gatsby, and I just have one question.
Writers, not specifically F. Scott Fitzegerald, feel the need to string ridiculous amounts of long or uncommon words together?

Finished it a couple of days ago and it wasn't that great, imho.

What does The Great Gatsby tell us about the American Dream? I'm Venezuelan, so I didn't read this book until recently, unlike most of you who probably read it a while ago. It just made me think about what people do to achieve that dream, especially having family members still in Venezuela who would sacrifice a lot to even live in Miami.
