After looking through the recommended reading wiki, I am still having trouble deciphering what genre to look for.

This is what interests me...

1. Aburdism and nihilism (I've read The Stranger and Myth of Sisyphus already.)
2. Decay
3. Ruins/anything really ruined
4. Old things (like finding a dusty picture of your great grandmother)

Any suggestions? I know. I'm boring.

So, what does /lit/ think of Faulkner's 'Absalom, Absalom!'?

As I am going away to College without my television or PS3, my father consented to buy me some books of my choosing for me to entertain myself.

Anyway, I enjoyed the Sound the Fury (I will admit, I found it sometimes confusing); does /lit/ think 'Absalom, Absalom!' is a good choice?

The title has always resonated in my head... Do I purchase it, my fellow 4Channers?

I think the problem, in addition to fantasy being genre fiction and immediately being looked down upon, is that the covers of fantasy novels always look really corny and stupid. They look like cheap bargain bin novels or artwork from the 80s...are there any fantasy series that either have really classy covers or art that doesn't look like a joke?

I'm trying to write a fantasy novel, but I'm having a problem. I don't want it to be too over the top with the fantasy, but I don't want it to seem like a young adult book or something. Any tips for writing fantasy?

Lit, I am thinking about purchasing Lord Dunsany's 'Gods of Pegana'.

But first...what does /lit/ think of 'Gods of Pegana'? Is it good? Is it worth the read?
