Plutarch's lives are like ancient anime. Short episodic biographies that cover infamous figures of the classical world. There's drama, magic, humor, all the great elements of story telling, but apparently this stuff actually happened. I've only read 5 so far, but I love them. I read Alexander, Themistocles, Solon, Alcibiades, and Lycurgus. 100% would recommend, especially for new readers of classic /lit/ with short attention spans who want to learn the basics. Plutarch provides a very easy intro point and you can easily finish one biography a day, even if you work full time.

I found a really interesting Parallel between Tolkien's Mythology and the classics. So if I remember right, the "Lands to the West" In Tolkien's mythology are called like the undying lands or something, because it's the place where all the elves came from. It's interesting because the Greeks and the Egyptians had this same notion that there was this semi-mythical land to the west "Elysium" where Hero's went when they died, and ultimately, in the direction of Plato/Solon's Atlantis. Tolkien spoke frequently about his Atlantis fascination, and there are lots of interesting pieces in his Middle Earth that tie into books like Ignatius Donnelly's "Atlantis The Antediluvian World", and on top of all of this Tolkien seems to borrow heavily from the mythologies of classical antiquity. Tolkien, though modest in his few televised appearances, was an extraordinary genius. He was considering a major in the classics/humanities before switching to philology. I have no doubt in my mind that he had read every niche and famous work concerning classical antiquity before he began the Lord of the Rings. Take notes lads, this is how you make great literature.

Start with the Greeks.

It's time for /lit/ to publish it's own versions of the classics. Meme covers, coupled with authentic anonymous commentaries on classical literature. The time has come, Wordsworth and Penguin won't have shit on our free pdf versions of the classics with crowd sourced commentaries from anons across the world.

Reclaim le birth right faggots.
