Romans 9:

Oy vey! Surely you would rather read the stories of G-d's chosen people, the mighty nation of Israel!

Can someone explain to me why this went from a supposed historical account to and then from the generations of the children of Isreal into an instruction manual? To rephrase the question, when does the Bible actually get interesting again?

Why is it so incredibly vague? They couldn't just find a paper where somebody was a little more specific?

Is there a better book than this?

What's the best way to read this thing? Reading order, secondary sources etc.

Why is it so, well— repetitive, odd, and just bad?

There are parts clearly meant for ancient Israelites. I fail to discern how anything of value could be gleaned from said parts, some Christians have even spoken to that sentiment as well.
