When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose

Are there any books like True Detective Season 2?

I really loved this past season. I'd like to read something like it--maybe not in terms of plot, but a book about fucked-up, regular people trying to redeem themselves.

Anyone got anything?

Are there any books that somehow involve the idea of love at any cost?

Killing for love, dying for love, etc?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. That maybe the only things you really love are the things that you'll protect, no matter what you or anyone else has to give in exchange.

So anyway, if you know of any books that deal with the idea, either in appreciation or refutation, I'd appreciate it.
