Best reference works out there, oddly. Ignore his wilder interpretation theories, and you still have an excellent collection of virtually all the myths, with major variations, accurately summarized and with exact original sources noted. Plus his unique index system works well. I've been using it for ages.

This. I started with Pope because it happened to be in our house when I was young, and it was great archaic fun, but I greatly prefer newer translations now.

Absolutely. The translations and notes are good, and the texts are essential. I don't have them as a boxed set, but I like the Fagles.
