It’s kinda sad how Bakker got tombstoned for writing actually grimdark stuff. Nearly all the bad reviews are from people who don't like sexism (brave&stunning), can't understand what he is saying, or get filtered by Kellhus.

People are always for flawed characters, but only super palatable non-flaws that are slicked back and cool, or easily overcome. They would much rather slurp up puddle deep YA for adults. I do wonder if its due to genre fiction's consumer base becoming increasingly women dominated.
