Look into Vajrayana / tantric Buddhist literature. And not the pop-phil written by westerners about tantric this and tantric that. I mean the actual Indo-Tibetan coomercore symbolism about vajras and padmas. Start with secondary or survey literature first though, e.g. Snellgrove - Indo-Tibetan Buddhism, Davidson - Indian Esoteric Buddhism, or for more visual stuff Landaw and Weber - Images of Enlightenment.
