Do you ever feel like a bad mood might be making you give up on books that you'd normally read?

Is this even a bad thing? If the book isn't enough to make you happier, is this just a nice way of getting rid of stuff that would've been a waste of time?

Is Speed reading worth?
>pic semi-related
The biggest problem on speeding up the reading is the "amnesia" that it causes when you only absorve the message, but easyly forgets about passages and words.

Oh man, /lit/.

You gotta help me out.

When I was younger, one of the first books I really loved was about some really shy girl who befriends this rude, blonde girl who's really a ghost in a forest, and in the book it explains that the ghost lived on a prairie (I think), and one day she wandered off and fell into a well and broke her neck or something. This ghost was a real bitch; she was stubborn and constantly got the shy girl in trouble. I think the ghost's name was Alice, or something. Does anyone recognize this book, like at all? I'm tutoring this inner city kid in a couple of days, and I wanted her to read it since it seems right up her alley, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any ideas?

Pic related, hopefully the look on her face when she finds out the girl is a ghost.

I just realized that I haven't been to /lit/ in a couple of days. Why you might ask? Because I've actually been reading now.
