Why does it feel that satire is no longer a popular literary medium despite often having the best "literary" novels?

The last time I went into a bookstore it was full of nothing but YA fantasy and "non-fiction" books which were basically just race rants. I guess "The Sellout" is considered "satire" but the author himself doesn't seem to think so and I don't think the premise was as satirical as people say.

Eh, it's funny in a different way. This cover poorly represents this book as if it is a cartoon. The main character is a pompous fat neet that is forced into society. Hilarious and a joyous read.
