This one is good. It's okay to skip some letters if you get bored of the topic. It's on libgen.

I'm not sure we have the same idea of comfy, but pic related is my go-to when it comes to "comfy' nonfic. Hunter's autobiography, in the form of his personal correspondence, up to the point right after Hell's Angels came out. Epub on libgen.

I always shill this anthology because it's his autobiography, yet still I'm the only one whose read it. Read this if you want the most authentic look at his writing.

If you still have not read pic related you shouldn't speak of HST.

People fail to emulate him because he was genuinely well read. His mom was a librarian and he learned from the classic works of western lit.
I always recommend pic related because I think his early work can be a /litcore/ meme. Honestly it's one of the best books ive ever read. (Yes its on z-lib)

His prose in general is very good.
His collected personal letters are what I recommend. You get the best sense of the guy reading these.

I've been making this rec in every HST thread. Start reading this around 1961, the very early stuff is slightly boring.
I want to caution you though, I wish I hadn't taken him as my entry point into philosophy and lit as a young man. I realized later I should have started with the Greeks unironically.
