I just marathoned the first 50 pages of "The Stand" by "Stephen King", did I like it?

I've been reading this over the past month or so (i'm a teacher so I usually read as the students are doing their exams) and I'm about halfway in.

A part of me is losing interest in the story, I feel like the most exciting parts have already happened (the superflu pandemic) and now it's just the characters slowly discovering eachother across the USA.

Does the book get better? I know it's a silly question to ask but King always has this case of writing slow books which have quite climactic endings. The Stand, however, feels like the he wrote a story from a very exciting beginning and now it's going to turn stale.

Why did he peak so early? It's almost like this novel is in its own league compared to most of his other stuff.

Pretty good, I wanted to read some post apocalyptic books, so I started with Alas, Babylon and moved onto this, any other post apocalypse type survivor books I should try?

I feel like reading some good horror type stuff set in new england, I'll check out some of kings other books too.

Is The Stand SF/F? It's been pretty great, only ~40 pages left. Unless some weird shit goes on before the end this cover is pretty misleading.

sup /lit/ i want to get into reading and shit again i have heard the stand is a good book and am interested in reading it. people say there is an unedited version that is way better than later ones.
