Suffering will eternally be part of the human experience because desire will eternally be part of the human experience. If you by some fantastic medical intervention get rid of desire the being that results may not suffer, but it will be definition not be a human anymore, but something else, something superhuman or rather inhuman.
The reason it is undesirable to get rid of desire is not because of some vague conspiracy by le evil corporations but because it is undesirable to become inhuman. The idea that the end goal is not to desire is a profound misunderstanding of what Buddhism is trying to do by saying "you have to get rid of desire".

The core elements of human nature are genetic and will not change for a long time, no matter the culture. The themes of the iliad for example, like rage at being mistreated by unfair superiors, coping with post traumatic stress etc are present if you are an attic farmer in the 8th century bc or a midlevel Korean esport enthusiast.

>Beer in the United States has always been bound up with race, racism, and the construction of white institutions and identities. Given the very quick rise of craft beer, as well as the myopic scholarly focus on economic and historical trends in the field, there is an urgent need to take stock of the intersectional inequalities that such realities gloss over. This unique book carves a much-needed critical and interdisciplinary path to examine and understand the racial dynamics in the craft beer industry and the popular consumption of beer.

I have read that description five times and I'm still not quite sure what the intention of the book is. Is the author trying to carve out a niche by writing about the most unimportant and uninteresting subject they could possibly conceive? Then running every word through a thesaurus to make it sound scholarly? Craft beer "enthusiasts" are the lowest form of life on planet earth.

Is there any point in writing fictional novels any more? its quite a primitive method of storytelling.
hell, I think even Visual Novels are a superior method of telling a story.
Books should be reserved for non fiction like Philosophy or science.

Also, who the hell is on the cover? Did Michael Brooks self insert himself into that dinner that Joe Rogan had with the Weinstein brothers and Sam Harris and Ben Shapiro? And who are those Jewish looking individuals plotting at the back? And is the guy next to Michael Brooks supposed to be Sam Seder's yaoi version or something?

How negative are the books on your shelves?
I've been looking at my books and almost all of them have characters that are depressed, mentally ill, villainous, outcasts, and so on. I think the only positive book I have is Siddhartha.

Do you guys have any nice books you like reading where everything isn't terrible? I think I need some balance.

Grammatically, why does the sentence "He went insane" or "He's going insane" function?
If you replace Insane with other adjectives it falls apart, for example "He went sad" or "He is going sad." What is special about the word insane that it can be used that way, or is it incorrect and often used regardless?

Why is it Christians are obsessed with making heaven a sekrit club that literally nobody can get into? Don't they suppose in their view enough people are already going to hell?
