I'm a little stoned so bear with me. Throughout European history, the intellectuals had their own language: latin. You could be some pollack and enjoy your intellectual pursuits while corresponding to other experts in your field in latin. Plebs need not apply. Now, this is very is similar to written chinese. Chinese people in the past, could barely understand their fellow chinese that lived just over the the hills due to their dialects (look up how different chinese dialects sound if you need more proof) hoever the few literate chinese could still speak to each other through their written language. The remains of this can still be seen today when Hong Kongers can read Beijinger's weibo posts but can't speak to each other. While I have no problems with people writing in their dialect, if this becomes the norm then the average reader will just avoid reading "non-white" english as the semantic drift increases cognitive load and it's just not worth it. This is how we become unintelligible to each other . Yes, let the people write like they speak but let us anime-board postin' mongoloids speak WASP. roast me plz
