I teach English and literature in Asia. Its pretty lit and I can save 500-1000£ a month after living like a king.

Is it possible to translate poetry? Obviously translated poetry loses a lot of what the author intended, but does it lose so much that it becomes pointless to read?

I want to start learning about the Roman and Greek philosophies, and I wanted to start with Stoicism.

Does anyone know any good books on this?

Daily reminder that trying to read all the classics one after the other is pointless. It's best to stick to one author (say Tolstoy) and stick to reading his works influences and contemporaries. Trying to read a "sample" of a particular era or style of literature before moving onto another will not leave you well rounded, but jumbled in your thoughts. You'll end up a dilettante in every movement rather than expert in one.
