Franzen is a pretentious fuck. I heard him interviewed, and all he fucking talked about was "serious fiction." According to him fucking nobody can really appreciate, read or write serious fiction for all of his goddamn qualifiers. I'm so fucking bored of this whole school of thought that anything besides the QUALITY OF WRITING determines which stories are "serious" and which aren't.

Not everybody feels invested in stories about disintegrating families. There are other stories to tell.

Yes, I mad.

Damn, this place is all fucked up. It's probably best, I have a lot of work to do tonight. Still... I hope this doesn't last long.

How do you choose which books are worth reading when you will likely read less than 3000 books in your life?
Do you read mainly for light entertainment, though provocation, knowledge, or something else?

>My face when I realized reading a book a week for 50 years still only leaves you with 2600 books read.
