I'm watching The Stand, and it occurred to me: why are all the scientists at the beginning of cackling, finger-steepling douchebags? Come to think of it, why do all of America's great and/or prolific writers (novelists and otherwise) have a hard-on for the "common man" of the South? Could it be that we can the woeful state of our national discourse to the exaltation of the rebel son? If even our greatest literary minds spend half their time lionizing the hick, the white trash, and demonizing anyone with an ounce of education, obviously the rest of us don't really have much of a chance, no?

If the survivor's children are immune to the plague, why aren't a lot of the survivor's parents still alive?

TOO MANY GODDAMN NAMES

By the time one segment ends I've completely forgotten who was in the party of the next chapter.

Do I just have a terrible memory? Who the fuck is Nadine Cross?

I finished reading The Stand and it felt like... reading a Bible.

Why do I feel that way?

>Buy uncut version
>Invest a month of my life into reading one book
>Finish it
>Contemplate shooting myself in the head for reading "The Stand"

I'm never reading another King book ever again.

You have read a King book you liked. What was it? It's ok, this is an anonymous image board, your cred won't take a hit at all.

You might hate the way he writes, but his imagination dwarfs yours and you know it. What was the book /lit/?

Picture related.

I fnished reading The Stand, and it felt like reading... the Bible?

Is it just me or is reading The Stand really is a spiritual experience.

(BTW, why do you say that S. K. is a shit writer?)

Why is this book so popular? I got until halfway through Book Three and I gave up and read the ending on Wikipedia.

Tell me what is so great about this book because I don't see it.

I will concede that the first half of Book One was REALLY good and really enjoyable but HOLY SHIT did this story go nowhere.

I'm going on a ten hour car ride, and just picked this up for 50 cents at the Goodwill. Is it decent? I usually go on /mu/, and I'm pretty much a literature pleb.

I was never much of a reader but I recently bought myself a kobo to get into it. A friend suggested I read the uncut version of The Stand and I finished it (all 1500 pages of it) three days after downloading it. I'm not sure if it's considered pleb-tier or not but I'm nonetheless planning to dive into the dark tower universe. I've heard that I should read some other books (It, The dragons eyes...) before jumping straight into the dark tower series. Any suggestions on reading order or things to keep in mind? On a side note, Richard Flagg was an interesting character and I very much look forward to reading more of him.
