>If what matters is to come to an understanding and to communicate, then, of course, I can only make use of human means, which are at my command because I am at the same time human. And actually I have thoughts only as human; as I, I am at the same time thoughtless. One who can’t get rid of a thought is to that extent only human, is a slave of language, this human institution, this treasury of human thoughts. Language or “the word” tyrannizes most terribly over us, because it brings up against us a whole army of fixed ideas. Watch yourself now just once in your act of reflection, and you will find how you get further only by becoming thoughtless and speechless in each moment. You are not only thoughtless and speechless in sleep, but also in the deepest reflection; indeed, precisely then the most so. And only through this thoughtlessness, this unrecognized “freedom of thought,” or freedom from thought, are you your own. Only from it do you reach the point of consuming language as your property.

Once upon a time, in a the internet age , there was a user named Max Stirner who stumbled upon the /lit/ board of 4chan. As he scrolled through the posts, he couldn't help but smirk at the self-proclaimed "intellectuals" who discussed classic literature with such orthodoxy.

"Fools," Stirner thought to himself. "These masses and their attempts to impose their false ideas of culture and civilization upon the individual. They think they understand the great works of literature, but in reality, they are merely puppets to the SPOOKS of orthodoxy of society.

So, was Stirner a materialist? He seems to attack non-materialist ideas but at the same time holds very idiosyncratic views about selfhood and “nothingness” that don’t really seem compatible with modern materialism.

Once upon a time, in a virtual world, there was a user named Max Stirner who stumbled upon the /lit/ board of 4chan. As he scrolled through the posts, he couldn't help but smirk at the self-proclaimed "intellectuals" who discussed classic literature with such reverence.

"Fools," Stirner thought to himself. "These masses and their attempts to impose their false ideas of culture and civilization upon the individual. They think they understand the great works of literature, but in reality, they are merely puppets to the SPOOKS of society."

Max Stirner decided to join in on the discussions, his arrogance and smugness palpable in his every post. The /lit/ board was shocked as Stirner's perspectives on the literature being discussed revealed a completely new way of looking at the works they held so dear. He dismissed conventional interpretations as misguided and instead focused on the individualistic and egoistic themes present in the stories.

The members of the /lit/ board were incensed. How could someone so presumptuously reject their carefully crafted understanding of literature? They attempted to argue with Stirner, but his individualistic philosophy and haughty demeanor made it impossible to penetrate his stance.

"You see," Stirner would say, with a smirk on his face, "all of you are merely accepting the SPOOKS imposed upon you by society. The truth is, there is no objective truth or universal meaning in literature, only the unique perspectives and interpretations of the individual."

The /lit/ board was left in a state of frustration and anger as Stirner continued to mock their attempts to impose false ideas and meaning onto the works of literature. Stirner's radical individualism was a wake-up call to the members of the /lit/ board, who realized that they too were mere pawns in the grand scheme of societal SPOOKS.

From that day forward, the members of the /lit/ board looked at literature in a new light, embracing the idea that the meaning and significance of a work is created solely by the individual reader. And Max Stirner continued to roam the virtual world, spreading his message of radical individualism and mocking those who blindly accepted societal SPOOKS, always with a smirk on his face, knowing that he alone held the key to true understanding.
