Actually the worst books are the one's with cliched stories, action and events. That's why soap operas are bad.

A boring story idea can make a good book:

Guy can only move one eyelid: diving bell and butterfly.

A single moment in time: Life : a users manual.

Guy moping around a shit town grieving over his dead friend: the unfortunates.
